Sunrise Elementary Pick Up and Drop Off Safety
Vehicle Drop-Off & Pick-Up: Front Entrance ONLY

Vehicle Drop-Off & Pick-Up: Front Entrance ONLY

Do Not Drop Off Early: Morning supervision does not begin until 8:45 AM. For student safety, please do not drop off your children on campus before this time (unless they are getting breakfast, which begins at 8:35).

All parent vehicle drop-offs and pick-ups must take place at the Front Entrance.

  • Loading & Unloading: Teach children to exit and enter quickly on the curb side only. Never allow children to walk between cars.
  • Keep Moving: Stay in your car and continuously pull forward as space opens up. Do not leave your vehicle unattended in line.
  • Crosswalk Safety: Keep all crosswalks clear at all times.
  • Parking Lot Rules:
    • The entrance is 2 lanes only (the left lane leads to parking).
    • If parking, children must be accompanied by an adult to cross the lot—always use designated sidewalks and crosswalks.
    • If no parking spots are available, exit and loop back around to re-enter.

Alternatives to the Traffic Line

Skip the traffic lines entirely by utilizing one of these options:

  • Walk or Carpool: Encourage walking or carpooling with neighbors as often as possible.
  • Walking Groups: Coordinate a neighborhood walking group for local kids.
  • Off-Campus Spots: Designate a drop-off/pick-up spot on adjacent streets (please review Safe Routes Utah and respect private property).

Off-Limits Areas

  • 455 East (Along the Playing Field): BUS PARKING ONLY. This area is strictly reserved for buses and is no longer available for parent vehicles.
  • Lower Parking Lot: DO NOT USE. Reserved strictly for staff and Head Start families. Dropping off here risks your child being locked out and creates major safety hazards.
  • North Cul-de-Sac: DO NOT USE. To protect neighbor property and ensure safety, do not pick up here. Reroute to 120 South Street or 300 East Street instead.

General Safety Reminders

  • No Cell Phones: Stay off mobile devices during drop-off and pick-up. Distracted driving puts children and adults at risk.
  • Patience Required: Traffic moves quickly and typically clears in about 10 minutes post-bell. Plan a clear spot with your child and stick to it.
