Welcome to 4th grade!
Dear Families,
W are excited to be your child's teacher this year!
Back to School Night will be held on Monday, August 20th beginning at 6:00 PM with 3 sessions, the last one ending at 7:30 PM.
If you are unable to attend or would like to review the information, we presented that night our slides will be on Google Classroom:
As you know, being in the Portuguese Immersion Program, your child has a unique opportunity to continue his/her Portuguese language development. In order for us to be successful we will be doing our best to create an environment in the Portuguese classroom where all the communication is done only in Portuguese. It is essential the your child only communicate with Professora Balbo in Portuguese in class and/or out.
A great way to warm up for 4th grade is by reading every night for at least 20 minutes, keep practicing your math facts-you can use fun math games websites that we have on our Google Classroom. For Portuguese you can keep working on Elefante Letrado, use our class Duolingo and even talk to your friends and family in Portuguese.
We are a believer in keeping a strong, open line of communication between home and school. After all we have something so special in common, YOUR child. To get to know your child through your eyes we have a project called: IN A MILLION WORDS....or less.
You know your children better than anyone else in the world and we would like to start the year out with a glimpse of who your child really is. What makes him or her so amazing? What does he or she struggle with? What are his or her hobbies and special talent?
We are asking you to write or email us about your child in a million words or less. If we sat down for 20 minutes over ice cream what would you want to share with us about your child?
This information is confidential and it will be just for Professora Balbo and Mrs. Stembridge. It will give us a whole understanding into who your child is. We will learn a lot about your child from our time together, but why wait?
We care about what you have to say, and yes it, can be a team effort, you can invite your child and sibling to talk about him/her. Remember it can be as long or short as you want.
Please make sure you are signed up to receive emails from the school to get information about Back to Scholl Night. Also, we use Class Dojo for communication with parents, we will talk more about it on BTS but it would be helpful if you come with the app already installed.
